It was reported that Nissan will invest £52 million in aluminum production at its Sunderland plant for the use of recycled and lightweight aluminum applied in the new Qashqai. The investment included the second extra-large press production line and a recycling facility called the cyclone, which can extract scrap metal and let suppliers reproduce sustainable lightweight aluminum body panels.

According to Nissan, by using this recycled aluminum, the body of this car will be 60 kg lighter than the previous version, and the efficiency of emissions will be thereby improved.

This closed-loop recycling system will reduce waste and carbon emissions, making Nissan move towards its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
