Norsk Hydro, one of the largest aluminum companies in the world, declared this week that its Hydro Extrusions facility in Spanish Fork, Utah signed an agreement with the city government and the Utah Municipal Power Agency to power its plant from electricity generated at one of two photovoltaic solar installations.

This deal will last for eight years. The Utah plant is located in the Southwest United States and it will become the first American facility to be powered completely by renewable energy.

Currently, Norsk Hydro’s Utah aluminum extrusion plant is owned and operated by the subsidiary Hydro Extrusions North America.
