The Aluminum Association, a US-based trade association for the aluminum industry, including production, fabrication, recycling, and suppliers, reported a 4.6% increase in North American (US and Canada) aluminum demand in the first three quarters of 2024, reaching 20,712 million pounds.

During the period, sheet and plate demand grew by 6.9%, while other sectors, including foil, extrusions, and electrical products, showed declines. Demand for semi-fabricated products, so-called mill products, rose by 2.5% year on year.

The Association’s Index of Net New Orders of Aluminum Mill Products rose by 1.2% year on year to 107.13.

Over the past decade, member companies have invested more than US$10 billion in US manufacturing for sustainable packaging, efficient vehicles, green buildings, and infrastructure.
