Outokumpu, a Finland-based global stainless steel manufacturer, announced that it would continue to restrict ferrochrome production and postpone the restart of one of its three ferrochrome furnaces at least until the end of the first quarter of 2023, due to high prices of electricity and an unstable energy market.

Outokumpu started to optimize its ferrochrome production in August. The shutdown impacted 30% of its total ferrochrome capacity. Outokumpu said that the continued limit of ferrochrome production would not affect its stainless steel deliveries.
