POSCO Holdings announced that it planned to move the second stage’s investment in a lithium production operation in Argentina from the next year to now. The reason was that the US’ Inflation Reduction Act increased investment in the secondary battery sector, further increasing lithium demand.

The investment is worth about US$1.09 billion. The plant will be built on a brine lake in Argentina. The production of lithium carbonate for lithium hydroxide batteries will start in the first six months of next year.
