PPG has recently launched a nationwide initiative named “Sigma EcoCollect” to ensure that professional painters can voluntarily return plastic and metal packaging for recycling purposes. The campaign has been launched in collaboration with FIRE-OFF (waste logistics provider) and Dijkstra Plastics (packaging manufacturer), with the primary goal of increasing the usage of post-consumer recycled metal content within the packaging.
The Sigma EcoCollect campaign would be spreading its operating base in 32 PPG Sigma Service Centres stores and 61 Sigma Coatings wholesalers to collect the metal packaging scraps. To support these initiatives, it would be supported by FIRE-OFF for its logistics and Dijkstra Plastics to look after the packaging part.
Petra Bijma, PPG brand manager, said, “This program is a powerful step toward circularity. It aligns with PPG’s global sustainability targets, including reducing scope 3 emissions and increasing the use of recycled materials in packaging and limiting waste. Our customers are looking for ways to lower their environmental impact. This initiative not only supports their goals but also reinforces PPG’s leadership in sustainable innovation.”
