Rio Tinto’s aluminum output slides & bauxite output rises in Q2

Rio Tinto reported that its aluminum output totaled around 730,000 tons in the second quarter of this year, falling by 1% compared to the previous quarter and by 10% from the same period a year ago.

Meanwhile, the company’s bauxite output was up by 4% quarter on quarter and by 3% year on year to 14.1 million tons, driven by the Weipa bauxite operation’s performance.

In the first half of the year, Rio Tinto's aluminum output reached 1.467 million tons, down by 9% year on year; bauxite output reached 27.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2%.
