Russia plays an important role in global aluminum production

Russia, the world’s second-largest aluminum producer, has a primary aluminum production capacity accounting for 5.2% of the total production capacity in the world, totaling approximately 4 million tons. Among them, the output from Rusal occupies a share of more than 90% in Russia.

According to statistics, Russia’s primary aluminum production amounted to 3.7 million tons in 2021, accounting for 5.4% of the global total, of which over 80% were for export.

In the first 11 months of 2021, Russia's aluminum exports totaled roughly 3.19 million tons, mainly exporting to Europe and Asia.
