According to a forecast of Shanghai Metals Market (SMM), China's domestic aluminum production would be approximately 3.6 million tons in December 2023, hiking by 2.1% compared to the previous month and by 3.5% from the same month a year ago. The production was expected to reach 41.5 million tons in 2023, a year-on-year growth of 3.6%.

Aluminum output in November decreased due to production cuts in Yunnan province, which experienced a dry season from November to May. However, the situation didn’t affect output in December.

At the end of 2023, China’s domestic aluminum production capacity was around 42 million tons, 3.88% higher than the figure in 2022.
