South32 suspends potline at Mozal aluminum smelter after fatal accident

South32, a mining and metals company headquartered in Australia, has suspended a potline at its Mozal aluminum smelter in Mozambique after an accident on Monday (November 7) caused two dead and one injured.

South32 said that reduction operations in Potroom A at the Mozal aluminum smelter have been suspended and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The company will share its learnings to prevent a similar accident from happening again in the future.
