Taiwan's upstream stainless steel mills were expected to announce June rates in a few days. With the LME nickel price remaining stable, Indonesia Tsingshan Stainless's price increase and export orders recovering, the market expects prices to increase six consecutive times.

According to the downstream service center, starting in December 2023, YUSCO adopted individual price negotiations, which promoted domestic market prices to be highly linked to upstream mills. However, in the circulation market, due to slow recovery of demand, customers tend to be conservative in purchasing, resulting in a gap between the circulation price and actual increase.

In addition, market participants said that stainless steel from Vietnam has recently entered the Taiwan market, and the price is competitive. It may remain to be seen if the import volume is further expanded.
