Steel Association Declared Appointment of Kevin Dempsey as President and CEO

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Board of Directors named Kevin Dempsey as its new President and CEO. He succeeds Thomas J. Gibso. It must be noted that Dempsey has been serving as interim president and CEO of the association. Prior to that, he has been AISI’s senior vice president for public policy and general counsel.

John Brett, chairman of AISI noted that Kevin Dempsey has been a driving force for the steel industry’s advocacy for many a years. The AISI member companies have the utmost confidence in Kevin’s leadership and expertise, especially at a time when the global steel industry is challenged not only by the global pandemic, but also by unfair trade practices and massive global steel overcapacity, he added.

Commenting on his appointment, Dempsey said that he is honored and privileged to continue serving the American steel industry. The industry is a cornerstone of our economy and the backbone of the country’s manufacturing sector. Moreover, it is critical to its national security. Dempsey said that he is looking forward to working with its member companies and partners to continue this momentum.
