Alleima, a Swedish producer of advanced stainless steels, has expanded its product range for the urea industry with SAF™ 2906. This super duplex stainless steel is designed to withstand the highly corrosive conditions prevalent in urea production, especially in high-pressure sections.

SAF™ 2906 was developed to meet the demanding requirements of urea synthesis, enduring extremely high pressures and temperatures. Its superior corrosion resistance against low-oxygen carbamate solutions ensures improved plant safety and productivity by preventing corrosion-related failures, which can cause costly downtime and maintenance.

Oscar Öhlin, Senior R&D Engineer, said that SAF™ 2906 has very high strength and excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal for the fertilizer industry. The material's properties allow for lighter constructions and provide strong resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-rich environments.
