Taiwanese stainless steel producers Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) and Tang Eng Iron Works Co., Ltd. filed a official petition on October 9 asking the Ministry of Finance to launch an anti-dumping (AD) investigation into imports of cold-rolled stainless steel from Vietnam.

Under standard procedures, the Ministry has 40 days to decide whether to initiate the probe, meaning a decision is expected by around November 20. If handled as swiftly as previous carbon steel cases, the process could begin as early as early November.

The petition argues that low-priced Vietnamese cold-rolled stainless steel has severely impacted Taiwan’s domestic industry and calls for the imposition of AD duties to restore fair competition in the market.
