The consecutive typhoons in July and August brought hope to the steel market due to reconstruction demand. In particular, the July typhoon severely damaged Taiwan's west coast. However, downstream manufacturers found that overall procurement was slow and actual demand fell short of market expectations.

Influenced by import offers and rising prices from Taiwan's China Steel Corp. and Chung Hung Steel, the circulation market is still showing a slight upward trend. Even with government post-disaster subsidies, procurement specifications are limited. Businesses hope there will be a subsequent accompanying effect so that steel demand for reconstruction will not be blunted.
