Taiwan’s upstream stainless steel mills will announce their prices for March next week. The metal prices, such as nickel, chromium, and molybdenum, were surging recently, which increased production costs. Therefore, it was expected that the upstream mills will raise their prices to reflect costs, of which 304 hot-rolled and cold-rolled stainless steel price is likely to be increased by NT$3,000/ton.

However, downstream buyers are worried about high prices affecting the overall market sales. Due to the improved property market in China and recovered market demand, coupled with rising raw material prices, stainless steel prices were expected not to drop too much. Currently, downstream buyers are taking a wait-and-see attitude on their future procurement plans.
