Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), a leading stainless steel manufacturer in Taiwan, has issued a warning about a surge in low-priced imports of stainless steel cold-rolled coils, particularly from Vietnam and now Thailand. The company said it will file an anti-dumping (AD) petition against Vietnam within a month.

Despite Yusco's earlier announcement, imports have not slowed. Moreover, shipments of stainless steel cold-rolled coils from Thailand have also grown, with prices for certain grades even lower than those from Vietnam. In July, Thailand's 300 series stainless steel cold-rolled coil imports reached 1,085 tons at relatively low prices.

Yusco is urging the government to expedite the investigation once the petition is filed to protect domestic producers. The company said the stainless steel market was challenging over the past three years, making it difficult for local businesses to compete with these low-priced imports.
