Tata Steel employs around 8,000 people across all its operations in the UK, including the UK's largest steelworks at Port Talbot in South Wales. To execute its decarbonization plans, the company wants the UK government to grant it 1.5 billion pounds.

Tata Steel is also seeking support from the UK government in two forms. First, cooperating in financing the project was given the size of the investment and the financially constrained position of UK businesses. Second, it includes encouraging the transition to green steel and ensuring a cost-competitive landscape.
