US President Trump has agreed to extend the deadline for tariff negotiations with the EU to July 9 after a call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. This decision came after Trump's previous threat to raise tariffs on EU goods to 50% by June 1, expressing frustration with the slow pace of talks.

Von der Leyen confirmed the extension, stating the EU is ready to advance talks swiftly and decisively but needs time until July 9 to reach a good deal.

The move temporarily eased escalating trade tensions, as the EU had also prepared retaliatory measures.
