According to statistics from the Ukrainian steelmakers' association Ukrmetallurgprom, in the first ten months of this year, Ukraine's crude steel production totaled around 6.5 million tons, up by 25.7% compared to the same period a year ago.

During the period, pig iron production went up by 21.9% to 5.98 million tons, and rolled steel products grew by 20.6% to 5.26 million tons, both year on year.

In October alone, Ukraine’s crude steel output was around 604,000 tons, down by 1% month on month and up by 5.7% year on year. Pig iron output amounted to 625,000 tons, rising by 0.1% month on month and by 22.2% year on year. Production of rolled steel products was about 442,000 tons, a month-on-month drop of 12.2% and a year-on-year growth of 1.5%.

Ukraine is currently facing challenges of the worsening state of the national power grid, staff shortages caused by mobilization and an inadequate reservation system, logistical issues, as well as adverse conditions in the global steel market. These factors caused Ukraine's rolled product output to fall to an annual low in October and crude steel production to its lowest since February this year.
