Ukrainian steel enterprises produced 3.62 million tons of commercial rolled steel from January to July 2025, down by 2.8% from the same period in 2024, according to Ukrmetprom. Pig iron output rose by 6.7% year on year to 4.36 million tons, while steel production dropped by 7% to 4.27 million tons.

In July, rolled products output fell by 2% from June and 6.2% from a year earlier to about 552,000 tons. Pig iron output increased 11.4% year-on-year and 4.6% month-on-month to about 692,000 tons, while steel production declined by 18.1% year-on-year and 6.6% month-on-month to around 581,000 tons, the lowest since March. Analysts expect 2025 to be challenging due to a global steel market crisis, with a market slowdown, tighter global import restrictions, and reduced Ukrainian exports.
