US’ crude steel output in week ending Aug 20 increases

According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on August 20, the US’ production of crude steel was around 1.76 million net tons, increasing by 0.8% week on week but down by 6.2% year on year.

During the period, the capacity utilization rate was 79.7%, a week-on-week increase of 0.7% but a year-on-year drop of 5.1%.

As of August 20, 2022, the adjusted year-to-date output of the US’ crude steel was around 57.97 million net tons, dropping by 3.3% year on year. In terms of the capacity utilization rate, it was 80.1%, decreasing by 0.6% year on year.
