US’ crude steel production in week ending Aug 5 falls

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending August 5, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.727 million short tons, decreasing by 1.3% from the same period a week ago and rising by 0.4% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 75.9%, down by 1.0% week on week and by 2.4% year on year.

As of the week ending August 5, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to around 52.9 million short tons, a year-on-year drop of 2.2%. The capacity utilization rate was 75.9%, a year-on-year reduction of 4%.
