US’ crude steel production in week ending Jan 20 falls

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending January 20, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.682 million short tons, decreasing by 1.0% from the same period a week ago and by 0.9% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 75.7%, falling by 0.8% week on week and by 0.2% year on year.

As of the week ending January 20, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to around 4.84 million short tons, growing by 0.2% compared to the prior-year level. The capacity utilization rate was 76.3%, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%.
