US’ steel coil exports grow in May

According to statistics from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US exported around 29,400 tons of steel coils in May, increasing by 28% compared to the previous month but falling by 4% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, exports to Mexico accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 24,300 tons, a month-on-month increase of 18% and a year-on-year hike of 24%. Canada ranked second with around 4,800 tons, and the exports to other countries were relatively low in the given month.

The export value was approximately US$34 million during the period, up by 26% month on month and by 0.6% year on year.
