US’ steel coils imports hike in Mar

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 77,500 tons of steel coils in March, increasing by 2.8% compared to the previous month and also rising by 24.8% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 57,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 28.8% and a year-on-year drop of 8.4%. Other import sources included South Korea (around 10,700 tons), Japan (around 4,000 tons), Sweden (around 1,800 tons), and Argentina (around 1,000 tons).

During the period, the import value was roughly US$65 million, up by 15.5% month on month and 69.4% year on year.
