India’s mining giant Vedanta reported that the company’s aluminum production was 579,000 tons in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2024 ended June 30, 2023, rising by 1% compared to the previous quarter and by 2% from the year-ago level, mainly due to the increased operational efficiency.

During the period, alumina production at the Lanjigarh refinery fell by 4% quarter on quarter and by 18% year on year to 395,000 tons. Pig iron output was 213,000 tons, rising from 189,000 tons a year ago. Saleable production totaled 324,000 tons, up by 20% year on year due to higher production capacity.
