Alcoa's adjusts shipment forecast for aluminum-relevant products in 2022

According to Alcoa Corp., a leading aluminum producer in the US, its aluminum production was 499,000 tons in the second quarter of this year, basically keeping flat compared to the output in the preceding quarter; alumina production totaled 3.23 million tons.

Alcoa forecasted that its aluminum shipment would be 2.5 million to 2.6 million tons for 2022, in line with the previous estimate. However, the expected shipment of alumina was lowered to 13.6 million to 13.8 million tons, compared to the earlier forecast of 14.2 million to 14.4 million tons, due to decreased shipments in the first half of 2022.

As for bauxite, Alcoa dropped its shipment forecast to 44 million to 45 million tons for 2022, due to the continued disruptions in the Atlantic bauxite market and weaker refinery demand in the first half of this year.
