India’s Hindalco Industries and Israel-based Phinergy and IOC Phinergy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the R&D and pilot production of aluminum plates for aluminum-air batteries used in electric vehicles and aluminum recycling.

The agreement was aimed to increase driving range without the need for charging infrastructure, decrease battery imports, and drive the Atmanitbhar Bharat initiative by enhancing energy sources.

Phinergy is a cleantech company well known for its metal-air battery technology, and IOC Phinergy is a joint venture between Phinergy and Indian Oil Corporation, a government-owned oil and gas explorer and producer.
