Las Lomas, a steel company in Bolivia, will build a new steel plant in Benjamín Aceval, Presidente Hayes, Paraguay.

The production capacity of steel rods will reach 90,000 tons per year, and the supply will be mainly for the local construction industry. Around 300 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs will be created.

Miguel Chagra, director of the company, said there are no sufficient facilities to supply to the domestic market, so the new plant will meet the current demand and the potential growth of domestic production.

The civil works were expected to begin in October of this year and the new plant was scheduled to be operated in August 2025.
