Brazil starts AD investigation on China’s coated flat-rolled steel products

On September 2, 2024, Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) announced the launch of an anti-dumping (AD) investigation on coated flat-rolled steel products from China, following the applications lodged by domestic enterprises ArcelorMittal S.A., Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais S.A. (Usiminas) this April.

The products involved are flat-rolled steel products, whether alloyed or unalloyed, electro-galvanized steel or steel processed by other methods (other than corrugated steel), or aluminum-coated, regardless of whether they are pure alloys, combined alloys (aluminum-zinc) or alloyed with other metals, whether or not in coil form. These products are classified under tariff codes 7210.30.10, 7210.30.90, 7210.49.10, 7210.49.90, 7210.61.00, 7210.69.11, 7210.69.19, 7210.69.90, 7212.20.10, 7212.20.90, 7212.30.00, 7225.91.00, 7225.92.00, 7225.99.90 and 7226.99.00 of MERCOSUR Common Nomenclature (NCM).

The investigation period is from January to December 2023, and the injury assessment period covers January 2019 to December 2023.
