Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, and Commerce, Geraldo Alckmin, is set to meet with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to address the recently imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

During the discussions, Alckmin is expected to emphasize the interdependent nature of trade between the two countries. In the steel sector, for instance, Brazil primarily exports semifinished products, such as slabs, which are crucial for US rolling mills. Compared to exports of finished steel products, semifinished products play a relatively important role in bilateral trade.
