As of the end of last Friday, hot-rolled coil prices in the Brazilian market remained stable. Despite the tariff imposed on imported steel products (whether 10.8% or 25%), prices of local hot-rolled coils are still higher than imported coils from China.

Currently, industry insiders are still adapting themselves to the influence of the recovered tariff mechanism. However, as the import tariff in June will remain at the lower 10.8%, it is believed that the import record in June may surpass the record in May.

According to data, Brazil imported around 417,900 tons of flat products in May, a 71.5% growth compared with the same period of the previous year.
