According to statistics, in the first half of 2025, China's crude stainless steel output was 20.47 million tons, an increase of 5.36% year-on-year.

Among them, the 400 series products increased significantly, with an output of 3.79 million tons, an increase of 276,000 tons year-on-year, an increase of 7.85%. The output of the 200 series was 6.3 million tons, an increase of 284,000 tons year-on-year, an increase of 4.72%. The output of the 300 series was 10.37 million tons, an increase of 481,000 tons year-on-year, an increase of 4.86%.

The output of long products, plates and coils, and narrow strips also increased. The output of crude stainless steel long products was 2.78 million tons, an increase of 261,000 tons year-on-year, an increase of 10.38%. The output of wide-width plates and coils was 14.87 million tons, an increase of 650,000 tons year-on-year, an increase of 4.57%. The output of narrow strip crude steel was 2.81 million tons, an increase of 129,000 tons year-on-year, an increase of 4.8%.

However, due to the ongoing tariff war between China and the US, the export of downstream products has been blocked, and market demand has weakened, resulting in shrinking profits for steel mills. Therefore, stainless steel production has gradually decreased from May to June, and is expected to drop slightly to around 3.42 million tons in July.
