Taiwanese stainless steel manufacturers are seeing a potential upturn in the market after the local mill Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) filed an anti-dumping (AD) investigation application against low-priced Vietnamese stainless steel imports. This move aims to curb the influx of inexpensive products into Taiwan, providing a boost to the industry's prospects. Domestic stainless steel producers are expected to benefit.

Following the AD probe application, the average selling price of 304 cold-rolled stainless steel sheets has stabilized, which suggests a cooling of competition, with local mills beginning to exert more control over pricing.

Despite the halt in price declines, actual purchasing remains subdued as clients maintain a cautious approach, indicating that market demand has not fully recovered.
