China’s stainless steel imports decrease in Jan-Nov

China’s stainless steel imports reached about 130,000 tons in November 2024. Compared to November 2023, imports fell slightly by 2,400 tons (1.82%). Imports from Indonesia totaled nearly 106,000 tons, a 19.86% monthly drop but a 0.57% year-on-year increase.

For the January-November period, total stainless steel imports stood at about 1.74 million tons, down by 3.73% year on year. Of this, imports from Indonesia accounted for 1.45 million tons, a marginal decline of 0.06% year-on-year.

In November, China’s stainless steel exports totaled about 439,000 tons, decreasing by 5.25% from October but rising by 22.96% compared to the same period last year. In the first eleven months of this year, exports reached 4.58 million tons, a 20.43% increase.

Net exports in November surged to 309,000 tons, up by 19.30% month-on-month and 37.62% year-on-year. From January to November, net exports rose by 42.22% to about 2.84 million tons.
