China’s stainless steel imports & exports fall in Sep

Statistics from China’s customs showed that China’s stainless steel imports totaled around 120,000 tons in September, falling by 20.4% compared to the previous month and by 48.2% from the same month a year ago.

In terms of exports, China exported around 459,000 tons of stainless steel, a month-on-month decrease of 6% and a year-on-year increase of 33.7%.

In the first three quarters of this year, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to approximately 1.45 million tons, rising by 4.4% year on year. Exports of stainless steel grew by 19.8% year on year to 3.7 million tons.

During the period, China had an apparent consumption of stainless steel of roughly 23.6 million tons, 1.28% higher than the same period a year ago.
