Constellium SE, a France-based rolled aluminum producer, announced to set up a new consortium for the development of high-strength, lower-carbon, lower-cost aluminum extrusion alloys.

The project, named CirConAl (Circular and Constant Aluminium), was sponsored by a fund from the UK’s Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC), and it was aimed to maximize the use of post-consumer scrap in the production of new alloys with CO2 emissions less than two tons per ton of aluminum produced.

The CirConAl project will set up an end-to-end supply chain for zero-emissions vehicles in the UK.
