Global alumina production falls in Q1

According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), global alumina production totaled around 33.18 million tons in the first quarter of this year, sliding by 5.5% compared to the preceding quarter and by 1.14% from the year-ago level.

In March alone, global alumina production amounted to around 11.42 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 10.4% and a year-on-year drop of 0.9%.

China’s first-quarter alumina output hiked by 4.7% year on year to 19 million tons, and the output in March was 6.59 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 10.8% and a year-on-year growth of 2.97%.
