Global crude steel output decreases in Aug

According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 150.6 million tons in August this year, falling by 3% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 112.6 million tons, slightly dropping by 0.2% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 83.9 million tons, a year-on-year hike of 0.5%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 9.7 million tons, sliding by 13.3% year on year.

In August, North American crude steel output was 9.6 million tons, down by 5.4% year on year; South American output was 3.6 million tons, falling by 10% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa was up by 3.5% year on year to 1.3 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 34.2% year on year to 3.2 million tons.
