Mexico’s rebar production falls in May

According to statistics from Mexico’s steel industry association Canacero, Mexico’s rebar output in May decreased by 24.3% year on year to 331,000 tons, the largest drop so far this year.

During the period, rebar production accounted for 20.9% of Mexico’s total steel production, and it ranked first among all steel products.

At the same time, the apparent consumption of rebar went down by 6.4% year on year to 337,000 tons.

Regarding exports, rebar exports in May decreased by 72.7% year on year to around 21,000 tons, the lowest level this year.
