Mexico’s wire rod production decreases in May

According to statistics from Mexico’s steel industry association Canacero, Mexico’s wire rod production decreased year on year in May, the fifth consecutive month of drop, falling by 19.7% to about 233,000 tons.

At the same time, the apparent consumption decreased by 5.4% compared to the same month a year ago to about 246,000 tons. Although the volume decreased year on year, the output in May still hit a monthly record high in 2023.

In May, exports of wire rods in Mexico went down by 87.8% year on year to 5,000 tons.
