Rusal, a global leading aluminum supplier in Russia, said the fire accident that occurred at an electricity transformer of one of its smelters in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, didn’t affect the work at the smelter, all operation still runs normally, and there were no casualties. The fire was soon fully extinguished.

The electricity transformer at the Krasnoyarsk smelter also caused a fire three months ago.

In 2022, Rusal’s aluminum production was 3.8 million tons, of which the Krasnoyarsk smelter’s output accounted for one million tons.

Calculated by production capacity, the Krasnoyarsk smelter and the Bratsk smelter are Rusal's two largest smelters.
