US aluminum manufacturer Novelis announced that its hot mill in Oswego, New York, will resume operations by the end of December 2025, ahead of the original schedule of early 2026.

Repairs following a fire in September are progressing smoothly, enabling the early completion of restoration operations. The industry believes this early resumption of production will help stabilize the North American automotive aluminum sheet supply chain.

The company stated that to mitigate the impact of the fire, it has deployed production support from multiple global locations and collaborated with other suppliers to source raw materials.

The Oswego site is Novelis' largest wholly owned plant in North America, primarily supplying aluminum products for the automotive, construction, and beverage can products, with an annual output exceeding 1 billion pounds.
