POSCO Holdings has signed a five-year strategic partnership agreement with Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO, to collaborate on critical mineral and ironmaking technologies.

The scope of this partnership includes carbon-reduced ironmaking, lithium refining and utilization technologies for secondary battery materials, and rare earth extraction and separation technologies. Both organizations will identify and execute joint research projects, exchange information, and host regular technology meetings.

This collaboration builds upon POSCO’s establishment of a critical minerals research lab in Australia in May. Through the agreement, POSCO aims to combine Australia's resource and technological expertise with its own capabilities to strengthen its competitiveness in the critical minerals supply chain.
