Rio Tinto is now having a partnership with brewer Corona Canada, launching Canada’s first specially-marked, beverage can with low carbon emissions, manufactured by packaging producer Ball Corporation.

Rio Tinto said that currently around 70% of the aluminum used in cans produced in North America is made with recycled aluminum. With a joint use of this recycled metal with Rio Tinto’s low-carbon aluminum, made with renewable hydropower, and metal produced using the direct greenhouse gas emissions-free ELYSISTM smelting technology, more than 30% of carbon emissions could be reduced.
