Schupan & Sons, Inc., an industrial recycling and metal distribution company based in Kalamazoo, has opened a new production facility near Kalamazoo to meet the growing demand for recycled green aluminum.

The company has invested US$20 million to build a new 100,000-square-foot facility. The new facility marks Schupan’s eighth facility in the Kalamazoo area.

Schupan’s new facility has state-of-the-art equipment and will use aluminum extrusion shredding and sorting technology to reuse aluminum to meet growing demand from various industries.

The facility is expected to be fully operational by the end of January and will be able to produce 50 million pounds of aluminum annually.
