SMM alumina price surges by RMB 119/t M-o-M, while the A00 aluminium ingot price decreases by RMB 260/t today

As of 23rd September 2024, according to the Shanghai Metal Market (SMM), the week initiated with a surge in alumina price by RMB 20 per tonne to officially close at RMB 4,026 per tonne. This brings the average price higher from the same day the previous month by RMB 119 per tonne from RMB 3,907 per tonne.

The average price has increased in almost all the regions, with the highest increase in the Shanxi region by RMB 30 per tonne to peg at RMB 4,060 per tonne. Also, in Shandong and Guangxi, the price has ascended by RMB 20 per tonne, averaging at RMB 4000 per tonne and RMB 4010 per tonne. In Henan and Guizhou regions, the average is up by RMB 10 per tonne, with an average of RMB 4,025 per tonne and RMB 4,005 per tonne, respectively.

China’s A00 aluminium ingot market initiated the week with a huge downfall in price from the previous day by RMB 260 per tonne. Today, the average aluminium price closed at RMB 19,700 per tonne. The average price of A00 aluminium ingot is hovering between RMB 19,680 per tonne to RMB 19,720 per tonne, while the spot contract is likely to be traded at a discount price of RMB 70 per tonne to RMB 30 per tonne with an average of RMB 50 per tonne.

The price of low carbon aluminium has improved by RMB 238 per tonne now standing at RMB 20,537 per tonne. High purity aluminium (99.99%) and (99.996%) have dwindled significantly by RMB 300 per tonne, sticking at RMB 26,700 per tonne purity and RMB 27,700 per tonne for 99.996 purity.
