According to statistics, the US’ primary aluminum imports totaled around 236,100 ton in June this year, rising by 4.4% compared to the previous month. The imports of P1020 aluminum in the first half amounted to roughly 1.07 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 41.6%.

Some market participants expressed their concerns about the macroeconomic impact on the future demand, which has slowed in the summer, and scrap has displaced some demand for primary aluminum. However, it helped to ease the tight supply in some regions.
