US’ primary aluminum production drops in Sep

According to statistics from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the US produced 55,000 tons of primary aluminum in September, falling by 8.3% compared to the same month in 2023.

During the reporting period, the output of recycled aluminum was 286,000 tons, a year-on-year hike of 0.7%. Among them, 160,000 tons were recycled from new aluminum scrap and 126,000 tons were from old aluminum scrap.

In the first three quarters of this year, the US’ primary aluminum production amounted to 507,000 tons, sliding by 10% compared to the corresponding period a year ago.

The recycled aluminum output during the period grew by 2.3% year on year to 2.64 million tons, of which 1.46 million tons were from new aluminum scrap and 1.17 million tons were from old aluminum scrap.
